Man charged over alleged assault of two female students

An alleged pushbike pest is accused of assaulting two young female students in Sydney’s west across two separate, terrifying broad daylight attacks.

An 11-year-old girl was walking along Elsham Rd, Auburn, when she was allegedly approached by a man on a bike who grabbed her in a headlock about 3.30pm on August 27.

She was able to free herself before running home and alerting police.

In a separate incident, a 17-year-old girl was walking on Stanley Rd, Lidcombe, when a man allegedly approached her from behind and grabbed her around the waist just after 4pm on September 11.

The teenager was also able to break free while the man fled the scene on his bike.

Police launched an investigation with the belief the two incidents were linked.

An 18-year-old man was arrested in Queen St, Auburn, just before 5pm Tuesday.

He was charged with two counts of common assault and two counts of stalking and intimidating.

The accused was refused bail and will appear at Burwood Local Court on Wednesday.
