Manhunt after two girls were grabbed on the street in Sydney

Police want to speak to a man after two schoolgirls were assaulted on the street in separate incidents in Sydney’s west.

In the first incident, an 11-year-old girl was walking along Elsham Road in Auburn about 3.10pm on August 27 when she was approached by a man pushing a bicycle and put into a headlock.

The girl escaped and ran to her home nearby, then police were called.

The man is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance with short hair. He was wearing a white jumper, pants and white sneakers.

In the second incident, a 17-year-old girl was waking on Stanley Road in Lidcome on September 11 when she was approached from behind by a man between 4.30pm and 5pm.

He grabbed her around the waist but she was able to break free, then the man rode away on his bicycle towards Milton Lane.

The man was similarly described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance with a medium build.

Officers were told the man was aged between 20 and 30, about 175cm tall and had short black hair.

Police believe the incidents are linked and have released images of a man they believe can help with their inquiries.
