A teenager has been charged with indecently assaulting an elderly woman after allegedly breaking into her Perth home yesterday.
The 18-year-old man allegedly entered a home in the northern suburbs at around 4.20pm on Sunday and confronted the 93-year-old resident.
Police allege the teenager attempted to sexually assault the woman before leaving the house.
He was arrested by Sex Assault Squad detectives yesterday and charged with attempted aggravated sexual penetration without consent, aggravated indecent assault and aggravated burglary.
Police Commissioner Chris Dawson said on Monday it was an extremely serious offence.
“A crime against an elderly woman, alone in her own home, is almost indescribable,” he told reporters.
“I can understand the community concern, indeed outrage, at this reported crime.”
The man faced Perth Magistrates Court today and was remanded in custody.
