US President Donald Trump reports on Twitter that he is pulling back the National Guard from Washington DC.
Mr Trump had requested gatekeeper troops into DC to “dominate” the roads after certain protests over the death of George Floyd became violent.
President Donald Trump says he has provided the request for National Guard troops to start pulling back from Washington DC, saying everything is presently “under perfect control”.
Mr Trump tweeted, “I have just given an order for our National Guard to start the process of withdrawing from Washington, DC, now that everything is under perfect control,”
“They will be going home, but can quickly return, if needed. Far fewer protesters showed up last night than anticipated!”
The U.S Government mentioned some watchman powers a week ago to help law authorities with overseeing fights, yet Mr Trump requested thousands additional soldiers and bureaucratic law requirement to the city to “dominate” the streets after instances of looting and violence.
Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser had approached the President a week ago to pull back the soldiers.
