Addressing the nation, U.S President Donald Trump has strongly suggested the state Governors to “dominate the streets” or he will deploy the military to quell the violence and restore order.
During the speech, Mr Trump said protesters had a right to demonstrate against the death of George Floyd but said the nation had been “gripped by professional anarchists, violent mobs, arsonists, looters, criminals, rioters, Antifa and others”.
While nationwide protests continue for a 7th consecutive day, there appear to be no signs of riots and looting slowing down, The President states that America needs “cooperation not content” and “security not anarchy”.
Mr Trump went on to declare “I am mobilising all available federal resources, civilian and military, to stop the rioting, looting, to end the destruction and arson and to protect the rights of law-abiding Americans.”
Just moments before the President’s statement in Washington DC, tear gas and rubber bullets were fired upon peaceful protesters as the police looked to drive people away from the White House.
