Where the new cases are coming from

Victoria has recorded 75 new cases of coronavirus – the state’s biggest daily figure since March 31.

Health minister Jenny Mikakos said on Monday morning that the state now had 2099 confirmed coronavirus cases.

Ms Miskakos brokedown where the new cases came from in Victoria:

• 1 from hotel quarantine

• 14 linked to outbreaks

• 37 detected through routine testing

• 23 under investigation

“There is a net increase of 71 cases as four previous indeterminate cases have been reclassified,” Ms Mikakos said.

“Thankfully, we have no new deaths reported overnight, that number remains at 20.

“We have six new cases believed to be community transmission, taking that to a total of 271, and there are currently 288 active cases in Victoria.

“Nine people in hospital, one in intensive care. 1789 people who have recovered, and we now have exceeded 792,000 tests undertaken and more than 15,000 since yesterday.”

Ten cases have been linked to the Wollert family outbreak, four have been linked to a new family outbreak in Lysterfield and Pattersons Lakes, and five are a new family outbreak in Truganina.

Meanwhile, a childcare worker has tested positive at Guardian Early Learning Centre’s Abbotsford site, with deep cleaning now under way.

New schools with coronavirus cases are Queen of Peace Primary School in Altona, Port Phillip Specialist School, Maribyrnong College and Fitzroy High School.

The state has conducted 53,000 tests since the suburban coronavirus testing blitz started last week.

The state recorded 49 new cases yesterday, an increase of eight on Saturday’s figures and the highest daily total since April 2.
