A woman has died after falling 10 storeys off the balcony of a Sydney hotel last night.
Police arrested a man known to the victim, who is believed to be the woman’s boyfriend, but he has since been released.
It’s not the only balcony death that occurred last night. In a completely separate incident, a teenage boy fell off a balcony in the Gold Coast and tragically died.
Just after 8pm last night, emergency services were called to the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Darling Harbour, following reports a woman had fallen from her 10th-storey room.
Officers and NSW Ambulance paramedics found the woman’s body on the level one rooftop of the hotel.
The woman is yet to be formally identified, however, is believed to be aged 45.
A crime scene has been established which continues to be forensically examined.
A 48-year-old man – known to the woman, and believed to be her partner – was arrested at the scene and taken to Day Street Police Station.
He has since been released pending further investigation.
Police said it’s too early to determine whether the woman’s death is suspicious.
Police also confirmed the hotel is not a coronavirus isolation point for returning travellers.
Detectives have established Strike Force Cumulus to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and are appealing for anyone with information or who was in the area at the time to come forward.
Inquiries are continuing.
